Seventeen-year-old guard Omri Orland chose Elitzur Netanya for his first season in senior basketball. In an interview with Ynet, he said he wanted an ambitious professional environment while accepting that he would have to earn his minutes.
In one of his first National League appearances, against Migdal HaEmek/Yizreel, Orland recorded 7 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds, with a plus-minus of 28. The Israel youth international said he hopes to help Netanya return to the top division.
Orland is the son of former player and current coach Yehu Orland and the grandson of Barry Leibowitz. He said his family supports him, but that the move to senior basketball followed an assessment of his own physical and mental readiness.
