Elite Capital, the current controlling owner of Maccabi Netanya, has filed a NIS 9.5 million claim against former owner Eyal Segal with the Israel Football Association’s arbitration institute.
According to the claim reported by Ynet, debts and obligations remained after the club was purchased for $3.5 million and should, the company alleges, have been settled under the sale agreement. These are the claimant’s allegations and have not yet been adjudicated.
Segal rejected the demand, calling it legally and financially unfounded. He says the buyer failed to transfer all promised funds to the club’s old account and withdrew $750,000 from it without explanation. The dispute will be decided in arbitration.
