«Shirat Miriam»: Memorial Exhibition for Late Mayor Miriam Feirberg-Ikar Opens at Netanya Cultural Center

Commemorating one year since the passing of Miriam Feirberg-Ikar, Netanya’s transformative mayor of 27 years and the first woman in Israel elected as mayor in direct personal elections, a special memorial exhibition will open in her honor. The retrospective pays tribute to her visionary civic leadership and the indelible imprint she left on the coastal city.

The exhibition, entitled «Shirat Miriam – The Song of a Movement and an Era,» will hold its festive opening on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 18:00 at the Netanya Municipal Cultural Center (Heichal HaTarbut). The opening ceremony will be attended by Mayor Avi Salame, city council members, civic leaders, and community residents. The exhibition will remain open to the public through the end of November.

Curated and designed by Kochavit Ben Ezra Goldenberg, the project was initiated and produced by the Netanya Municipality Spokesperson’s Department in partnership with the Cultural Center Association. The exhibition chronicles Feirberg-Ikar’s inspiring trajectory—from her early beginnings as a devoted frontline social worker and head of municipal education and welfare to leading Netanya’s comprehensive modernization, coastline renewal, and cultural resurgence.

Exhibition organizers noted that the presentation illuminates both her architectural and economic achievements as well as her profound personal connection to the people of Netanya across all neighborhoods and communities.
