Residents of Shazar Street in Netanya’s Poleg–Ir Yamim area have presented new objections to proposed road changes for a dedicated public transport lane. In a public statement, the residents’ group says it reviewed GPS data from 649 bus journeys across six ordinary weekdays. Its analysis claims a delay of approximately two and a half minutes around 7 a.m., with no comparable hold-up during most of the day. The group argues that the approximately 49-minute journey to the city centre is largely due to an indirect route and transfers, and calls for a frequent direct bus service instead of extensive street reconstruction. The figures are the group’s own claims and have not been independently verified by the newsroom.
