Strong community resistance has erupted in Netanya’s southern coastal neighborhoods of Poleg and Ir Yamim over a municipal project to establish a dedicated public transportation lane (NATATZ) along Zalman Shazar Street. The plan, spearheaded by government infrastructure company Netivei Ayalon and the Netanya Municipality, has sparked intense debate among local homeowners and civic leaders.

During an emergency meeting attended by the Mayor, Netivei Ayalon planners, and neighborhood committee leaders, residents articulated major grievances regarding the potential eradication of landscaped green strips, the loss of scarce curbside parking, and elevated safety risks for school children and pedestrians navigating local crossings.

Responding to community concerns, the Mayor confirmed that an independent certified surveyor will be dispatched to verify actual roadway dimensions and that all construction work remains on hold until resident inquiries receive comprehensive review.
