Netanya residents have reported reckless night driving and tyre screeching that disturb neighbourhoods and may endanger road users. Opposition council member and deputy mayor Yam Meir Keren told 90FM that calls to the municipal hotline did not always receive a timely response. That is his assessment of the handling of the incidents.<\/p>\n

Deputy municipal director-general Alon Aharon confirmed that on Friday a car moved between several city junctions for nearly two hours while performing dangerous manoeuvres. He said traffic police stopped the vehicle at the entrance to Eilat. The municipality is conducting an internal review of the incident and any possible failures.<\/p>\n

Aharon acknowledged that response times need to improve. He said the city is recruiting dozens of municipal patrol staff, expanding the camera network, operating a motorcycle unit and shifting part of its enforcement capacity to night hours.<\/p>\n
